Topping Out
FORMA marks a major milestone in West Seattle.
This summer FORMA began work on renovations to a portion of James Madison Middle School; as well as a 2-story classroom building, site work, and a new free-standing bike shelter in collaboration with Seattle Public Schools.
With the final beam of the new 12,000+ SF addition lifted into place today, we marked the Topping Out of the steel structure–a total of 1,687 pieces of steel bolted, riveted, and welded by our Ironworkers, Industry Erectors, a native-owned business.
The new building at MMS will feature 6 classrooms, 2 science labs, 4 bathrooms, and 2 large Bioretention planters for the capture, treatment, and management of site stormwater. The new bike shelter, also a steel structure, will house 12 racks to keep 24 bikes secure and dry for MMS students and staff.
