The New Madrona K-8 School is Open!

“We are over-the-moon excited. . .” – says an Edmonds parent of three Madrona students. We are too.

Early last week we had the distinct pleasure of seeing students and staff fill the halls of their brand new Madrona K-8 School for the first time, and yesterday evening we were proud to participate in the festive ribbon-cutting and official dedication ceremonies attended by members of the community, the District, and our GC/CM team.

Built to support the unique needs of its non-graded program and its deaf and hard of hearing students, this one-of-a-kind districtwide option school was planned, designed, and built with painstaking attention to detail by our GC/CM team over the past four years. The resulting 77,000 sf school boasts color-coded alarms, readerboards, outdoor learning environments, and flexible classrooms large enough to be shared by multiple groups of students and co-teachers, or easily partitioned for smaller classes.

You can find more information on this innovative new school in the Edmonds Beacon, and review the construction process from start to finish via the project’s instagram feed. A big thank you to the Edmonds School District and the voters that made this journey possible–we’re so proud to have played a role in making the new Madrona K-8 School a reality.
