Construction begins on a cutting-edge new facility for Bates Technical College

FORMA Construction broke ground last week on the new Advanced Technology Center at Bates Technical College–a 53,000 sf building to house the school’s Engineering, Information Technology, and Digital Media programs.

Inspired by the structure of the equipment found in many of the programs, the building’s state of the art design showcases typically back-of-house components such as the two story, glass-encased Data Center and server racks surrounded by catwalks on the upper level to serve both infrastructure and education purposes. Slated to achieve LEED Gold certification, the design includes a double-height Broadcast Studio and an iconic Projection Cube feature to showcase student work, in addition to other cutting edge classroom and lab facilities.
