BIM and LEGO. Sworn Enemies.
No they’re not. We’re kidding of course – they actually go great together, and FORMA’s own Jessie Robertson can demonstrate how.
A detail-oriented collaborator with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a strong background in 3D modeling, Jessie Robertson is an in-house BIM Lead at FORMA who works in tandem with our design partners and Preconstruction Department to enable precision estimating and avoid costly trade clashes in the field.
Her unique and critical role in the design and construction process, coupled with a life-long enthusiasm for LEGO, make Jessie an ideal ambassador to the student realm–where we’re always eager to generate enthusiasm for the wide variety of opportunities open to the next generation in the building industry.
Jessie’s interactive, in-class demonstrations engage middle and high school students (most recently at Cleveland HS in Seattle), with a presentation about her specialized role in the building process and pairs 2D plans and a 3D model with a kit of LEGO bricks. Working in teams, the students use these tools to build simple structures and gain a hands-on appreciation for the value (and fun!) of 3D modeling in construction.
We invite you to reach out if you’re interested in asking Jessie to come speak with your students — just please make sure to never put an “s” on the end of the word LEGO.
