Harvard Elementary School Occupied Replacement

Construction of this new two-story, wood-framed, 53,000 sf elementary school was completed directly adjacent to the existing fully occupied campus and involved all associated landscaping, parking, playfields, and site improvements; as well as the establishment of two large detention ponds to aid in sediment and stormwater control on this wetland site.

With the safety of students and staff as our top priority, we prepared detailed work plans in collaboration with stakeholders, and distributed weekly construction updates to school staff, District personnel, and interested community members to share what construction activities were next up, where they would be adjacent to school operations, and provide opportunities for feedback and discussion.

FORMA’s adaptability during the unsure early days of the COVID 19 Pandemic and our ability to prefab walls and efficiently deliver wood-framed construction enabled us to gain time and maintain our schedule despite significant industry-wide challenges.

The last of three Franklin Pierce schools with the same footprint to break ground during the summer of 2019, Harvard Elementary was the first to achieve occupancy in the fall of 2020–demonstrating the value FORMA brings to wood-framed K12 construction.
