Cedar Building, Shoreline Community College
Construction of the new three-story Cedar Building in the center of Shoreline Community College’s occupied campus replaced five existing buildings.
The 54,000 sf building houses a diverse mix of disciplines in Biotech, Biology, Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Robotics with state of the art facilities designed to prepare students for careers in these fields with hands-on training in the technologies and equipment used in today’s workplace. Including both heavy machinery in the manufacturing shop spaces on the first floor, and sensitive equipment in the science labs and instrument rooms on the second and third floors; as well as a mix of maker spaces, classrooms, offices, a student lounge, and indoor and outdoor study and gathering area–special care was taken by our GC/CM team to ensure the building’s systems and infrastructure would successfully support this disparate mix of uses.
