The Environmental Learning Center at Point Defiance is named Grand Prize Winner 

We’re pleased to announce that the unique and beautiful SAMi Environmental Learning Center at Point Defiance was named the Grand Prize Winner in “Learning by Design” Magazine’s recent Architectural and Interior Design Awards Program.

The facility–which houses science classrooms, labs, interpretive exhibits, and communal discovery space for students in Tacoma Public Schools’ Science and Math Institute (SAMi) program; as well as offices for Zoo staff and volunteers–was a partnership between Tacoma Public Schools, Metro Parks Tacoma, and PDZA.
