A Major Milestone Reached in Olympia
We were thrilled to help Intercity Transit cut the ribbon last week on a critical campus expansion – 25 years in the making
Although the feasibility study for an expanded Pattison Street base of operations was begun in 1997, FORMA wasn’t brought on until June of 2019 to lead the GC/CM team in the addition of two new major facilities and extensive site work to better support the significant growth in IT’s services since its original construction in 1985.
Boasting a structural curtain wall system, an intricate terrazzo floor installation in the lobby, fitness facilities, cafe & break areas, interior & exterior gathering spaces, and offices for Intercity Transit’s entire administrative staff and operations personnel, the new Administrative Building is a three-story, 50,000 sf concrete and steel structure. Directly adjacent, FORMA also built the new 25,000 sf Fuel & Wash Facility to expertly service IT’s fleet of 400 busses.
Completed on time and on budget, this three-year, multi-phase effort was executed on a fully occupied site that involved liquefied soils and active transit operations from start to finish. For more on the project and last week’s grand opening celebration, check out this recent article in The Olympian, or head over to IT’s site for project milestones and renderings.
Next up: our team is tackling the South Parcel Expansion–remodel of an existing maintenance facility, construction of a new 27,000 sf metal building, and extensive utility upgrades and site work on campus. We invite you to watch it all come together on Instagram.
